Field Trip to Revenue House

This is the 1st field trip for ASC. We have to meet up at revenue house at 3pm on 9th Decemeber (Wednesday). Therefore, all of us have to gather there at “own time, own target”.

When we are there, we were guided through the gallery with explaination by IRAS staff and time was also given us to have a look aroundand understand more of our tax history and how it evolve to what we have now. From the manual entry of tax filing to the online e-filing services that are available now.

Last but not least, we were given a short powerpoint breifing on our tax and some light refreshment was served. After that, we were given a short quiz and the winners were awarded with a water bottle from IRAs. And finally!! we are free to go !!! :P weeeeeeeeeeeeee

ASC BBQ Gathering

Our ASC BBQ gathering was held on Dec 6,which was on sunday at Mrs Ivy Lim place. Almost the whole class and a few lecturers which include Mrs Ivy Lim, Ms janice law, ms wendy wong, ms chew and mr yong attended it. Mrs lim and Ms wendy’s children were also there. Mrs Lim and Ms wong seems tired as they went for the run in the early morning. To our disappointment, Mr chee was not there. Nevertheless, we proceeded to our bbq.

Yeo cheng and Alviss helped us in setting up the fire, with the two professionals, the bbq went smoothly. When the charcoal is ready, our cookers, mainly girls started to prepare our food. They were the best cook! Food served was delicious and appetizing. There was alot of food ranging from satay, stingray, prawns, fish and bacon. Before cooking our food, everyone started to eat some bee hoon, nugget and fishball as they were hungry! Hungry people.*Tsktsk*

After which we have a guitar session, dianne and yeo cheng played the guitar and sing song to boost the atmosphere there. Others were chit chatting and camwhoring. Following up, our teachers, Mrs lim and Ms wendy Wong joined in the singing session.

We ended the whole session by taking lots and lots of pictures.

Busy Week

Seven weeks had passed without knowing and this is the 2nd last week for ASC stop over.Everything is going on as usually, same venue, same supervisor, same students…seems bored?? you are wrong!

It has been a very busy week for us!!! We have to do two rounds of SIRS project and our personal selling report has to be submitted on Friday as well.Other than this, the most stressful thing for us is that there is a Daceasy Accounting Software test on Friday! It weights 10% of out total Grade! It’s a extremely bad ,unpleasant news for everyone.

There is nothing much new.We concentrated on learning Daceasy accounting software for the whole week. It is challenging for us because we do not have much information in it. The only time we learned DacEasy is with Mr Chee, where we learned how to key simple transactions into the sysytem. The nine lessons of DacEasy are also packed tightly within 10 days, so that the illustrator has to go through all the facts quickly. It is hard for everyone to digest all the knowledge within a short period of time. All of us are suffering from stress. Great determination and perseverance must be shown to strike for success. We realized that determination and perseverance is the key to success. There is no any learning notes provided too. We have to consult each other for the knowledge that we missed during the lesson. Teamwork is developed through learning accounting software. Although learning accounting software is challenging to us, it allows us to grow.

The Daceasy test on Friday is quite hard for some of the students.I hope that everyone will pass the test with flying colours.

Week 5 & 6

For the past 2 weeks, other than having lessons in class, everyone has been busy with their personal selling. We were trying to sell as much products as possible through our own networks, either through friends, real customers, relative and etc. We have products ranged from festive goods like Log cakes to Zoo and Night Safari Tickets. Not only these, we are also promoting durian ouff and Ritz apple strudels voucher. These items are selling at a lower price than the retail selling pricing.

There are countless of smses that were sent and some classmates even resorted to posting on facebook or in their personal blog to attract more customers. Well done ASC. =)

Back to class, it was definitely not EASY trying to grasp DacEASY accounting. The pace was fast and it was tedious remembering the steps. However, “Practise makes perfect”! Headaches are probably part of the cirriculum as our workloads increase. So kudos ASC people!!

Moreover, everyone is busy completing their TEP stopover and Personal Selling reports!! including company project, the creation of e-sales order form and invoices.! Hang on people!

And not forgetting, other than having lesson in class, ASC has fun moments. So stay on for the upcoming entries.!!!

ASC week 4—16th Nov ‘09

It had been a hectic week for all of us.

Mrs Wendy took over from Mrs Lim and she will be our supervisor for the next 4 weeks. For the first two days, she taught us the techniques of using advanced excel functions. After we had learned these functions, we would be able to apply it to our work, making it easier for us.

Activity after class was held on Tuesday. We played Taboo with Mrs Corrie Chan, our cost accounting lecturer from last semester! It was fun and interesting, we even learned a new word from Teresa ,”Inmesia” which is a combination of “Amesia” and “Insomia”. Laughter filled the room.=)

On Thursday, we had our audit presentation at LTD 2. The students from MSC whom we audited were there to watch us our presentation, so were their supervisors. Reason behind was to make students realize their strengths and weaknesses, and areas where they could improve in. Some of us were nervous when we saw them there and also presenting to the big crowd.

On the other hand, it was awesome seeing everyone dressed up!
ASC did well and we took lots of photos. Finally, we can all heaved a sigh of relief and relax for a while, till our next project deadline. :D

Friday, SIRS project again. Our eyes were getting blurry from the glare from the computer. But nevertheless. work hard, play hard.
